The beginning

Giacomello, Taffarel & Cia Ltda. was founded on March 21st. The company began as a manufacturer of wooden barrels for wine and food items logistics. The company employed approximately 30 people.

1952

Changes the company name to Taffarel & Cia SA

1962

It is now called Tanoaria Bento Gonçalves SA

1967

President Castelo Branco visiting Fenavinho (Mr. Laurindo Nilson, President).

1969

Tanoaria Bento Gonçalves SA and makes its first barrel exports to Uruguay and Central America Countries.

1970

The wine industry is beginning to change the way wine is packaged and is undergoing a process of replacing wooden barrels.

1974

The company name becomes Madem S/A Indústria e Comércio de Madeiras e Embalagens. Production of plywood boxes and packaging and wooden reels begins, replacing wooden barrels.

1975

Construction begins on the Rio Negro branch in Paraná, with 3,800 m² and 100,000 m² of area for future expansion, manufacturing wooden reels on an industrial scale. The first pine trees are planted in Rio Negro and Mostardas, in Rio Grande do Sul. 1975 – President Ernesto Geisel visits the Furniture Show (Mr. Gino Mazzocato as Managing Director and Mr. Laurindo Nilson as President).

1976

Madem is building two sawmills, one in Rio Negro and the other in Bituruna, Paraná. Madem's stake in Fenavinho.

1978

Exports of the first containers of reels to Europe begin.

1979

A new furniture factory is built, moving its headquarters to a new address in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul.
Furniture production begins, geared 100% for export.

1984

President João Figueiredo visiting Movelsul (Mr. Gino Mazzocato President, Mr. Paulo Barros Commercial Director, Mr. Darci Poletto Commercial Manager).

1986

The factory is built in Mostardas, in Rio Grande do Sul, with a modern sawmill and drying ovens.

1998

Madem builds a new furniture factory with advanced technology, moving its headquarters to Garibaldi, Rio Grande do Sul.

2004

The Assembly and Recycling Center opens in Sorocaba, São Paulo.

2005

A global expansion project begins with the opening of Euromadem, a reel distribution company in Spain.

2006

The first industrial unit abroad is opened, located in Calaf, Barcelona, ​​Spain.
Madem decides to close its furniture unit due to the currency crisis and competition from China, shifting its focus entirely to wooden reels, plywood reels, and stretch film.

2007

New industrial units begin to be built: Chattanooga, TN – USA, Bahrain, Manama – Middle East.
The company's plans indicate the opening of five more factories on all continents by 2012.

2008

Madem Reels USA, located in Chattanooga, TN, begins operations.
Madem Reels USA opens its first distribution center in Culloden, WV, and outsources distribution centers in New Jersey, North Carolina, and Texas.
Madem Gulf WLL begins construction of its factory, with production scheduled for March 2009.
Madem Romania SRL officially opens, with production scheduled for April 2009.
Madem in Mostardas begins plywood production with an investment of US$8 million.

2009

Madem opens Ecological Park in Rio Negro/PR – Brazil.

2009

Madem begins production in Bahrain and Romania.

2010

Madem sells its operations in the United States, Romania, and Mostardas. In the plastics sector, it forms a partnership with its affiliate, Aleplast (www.aleplast.com.br), concentrating operations in Garibaldi.
Madem opens its "Madem Maquinas" division and innovates in the fully automated production of its reels.

2018

A new US factory opens in Tarboro, NC, a joint venture with Moorecraft Reels, a traditional local manufacturer. The new company is Madem-Moorecraft Reels USA Inc.
Distribution Center opens in Barcarena/PA - BR.
Distribution Center opens in Williamsport/PA - USA.

2019

New factory opened in Mexico and Colombia.
Distribution center Houston/TX – USA.
New wood pellet line in Bahrain.

2020

Opening of the company MADEM MINAS, Poços de Caldas/MG - BR.
Opening of the distribution center in Culloden/WV - USA.

2021

New pellet line in Rio Negro/PR - BR.
Opening of distribution center in West Chester/OH - USA.
Opening of distribution center in Newnan/GA - USA.

2022

New factory in the United States is opened in the city of Denton/TX - USA.
Madem Gulf Ind - Bahrain received a visit from Mr. Alberto Fonseca, Ambassador of Brazil, and Mrs. Daniella Chaves, first secretary of the recently opened Embassy of Brazil in Manama - Bahrain.

2023

Official Inauguration of the Denton/TX Factory - USA.

2024

Madem Moorecraft is certified under the PEFC sustainability program.
Denton/TX plant doubles production capacity.
Madem Moorecraft opens Phoenix/AZ warehouse operations.

2025

2025

Madem Moorecraft expands it´s factory area in Denton/TX including reciclying operations.
Madem Moorecraft anounces Tarboro/NC expasion increasing production capacity by 50% for 2026.
Madem Moorecraft Tarboro become ISO 14001 certified.
